Great Stuff on the Writers’ Blogs, May 20, 2012

Let’s get right to the goodies:

  • Yesterday I asked if there was going to be one more day of The Bookshelf Muse’s Random Acts of Kindness week. The answer is YES but there’s bad news, too. The sign-up opportunity for the three things being given away today closed at 5 PM Eastern Time. Booo! Hiss! That’s 2 PM Pacific, and as I type this, it’s 2:32. BUT! Let’s not let that take away from Angela’s (@AngelaAckerman) and Becca’s (@beccapuglisi) week of wonderfulness for writers.
  • Back in the day, like about 6 weeks ago, when I was sharing this information only by e-mail with my writers’ group, I forwarded an article on the Writer’s Digest e-newsletter by author Kim Wright in which she asked, “Who Is Your Target Reader?” Well, one of my group members (we’ll call him BP) took great exception to Wright’s suggestion that we needed to identify specific groups, if not specific example people. So, he may be happy to read today’s post by K. M. Weiland (@KMWeiland) that while Self-Conscious Writers Are Doomed, we who write for ourselves first, whose first target reader is us, will write the lights out. What do you think, BP? (Don’t answer on e-mail. Put your response in the Comments section below, please.)
  • Unpublished author Kristan Hoffman (@kristanhoffman) somewhat echoes that sentiment as she acknowledges that she’s Learning to Embrace My Limits on Writer Unboxed.

And that’s it for Sunday.
